Children's Rights and Participation Programme
- Categorized in: Services
The Children's Rights & Participation Programme works with young people under the age of 17 and a half years of age. If you are over 17 and a half our Aftercare Advocacy & Support Co ordinator will work with you.
There are two Children’s Rights and Participation Officers (CR&PO) (see Who in IAYPIC will work with you) in IAYPIC. Although they are based in Dublin, they work with young people from all parts of the Republic of Ireland who are in care.
Young people can get in touch directly by calling, texting or emailing us. Foster carers, keyworkers or social worker may also make contact on the young persons behalf.
If someone is making contact on the young persons behalf it is important that the young person is made aware of this and is in agreement with the contact being made. However, there may be times, depending on the age and level of understanding of the child or young person where this may not be possible.
When the initial contact is made, one of the immediate priorities of the CR&PO is to ascertain that the young person wishes for IAYPIC to become involved with them. The CR&PO will never make direct contact with a young person without their agreement.
