IAYPIC came into formal existence in 1999 with a small grant from the Department of Health.

The organisation was initially managed by Barnardos who employed a national co-ordinator with IAYPIC funding. In 2004 IAYPIC became an independent organisation with its own governance and management structure.

Our work has developed substantially since then. We have 2 Children’s Rights and Participation Officer’s who work directly with young people in North Dublin and nationally across Ireland.  In 2007 with the support of the Vodafone Ireland Foundation, our Aftercare Support Network was established.
